With a come from behind effort, the team of Bob Frink/ Washington and Bill Haynes/  Rochester Hills, won the member/member doubles tournament held at Skore Lanes in Taylor on May 9, 2009.  In a tight match all the way to the 10th frame, Frink threw a strike on his first ball in the 10th to edge out a 209-202 victory over the team of Dave Eatman/ Ferndale and Phil Horowitz/ West Bloomfield.

Dan Mytty from Livonia won his first National Senior Bowling Association title on April 18th at Century Bowl in Waterford.  On a tough condition where it only took plus 9 to make the top 24, Dan qualified 5th and beat Charles Reynolds of Rossford, Ohio, 221-171, Gary Zarick from Macomb Twp., 263-226 and John Ciantar from Monroe, 268-179 to advance to the title match.

Kenny Lang from Eastpointe won his first National Senior Bowling Association title on March 14th at Bowl One Lanes in Troy.  On a demanding condition, Lang qualified 19th and beat George Humphry of Grosse Pointe Farms, 236-204, Dick Selgo from Archbold, Ohio, 172-159, Chuck Bork of Bay City, 232-192 and Jim Rock from Kalamazoo, 214-207 to advance to the title match.

Joe Buffa from Macomb Twp. won the National Senior Bowling Association’s tournament on February 14th at Country Lanes in Farmington.  Buffa qualified 3rd and beat Eddie Mintz of Canton, 204-181, Dave Eatmon from Ferndale, 248-225 and in the semi-final game, tied Mark Abele at 221.

William Manley, Jr. from Detroit won the National Senior Bowling Association’s first tournament in 2009 on January 17th at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park.  Manley qualified 3rd and beat Ralph Jennings of Detroit, 258-197, Bob Edwards from Lima, Ohio, 196-170 and Rick Goyeau from Canada, 269-188 to advance to the title match.

The Holiday Tournament was a big success as 32 qualifiers vied for the title and the special holiday trophy. The tournament was held on December 13, 2008 at Fountainview Lanes in Clinton Township and food was served after qualifying to the bowlers and their wives and girl friends, compliments of the NSBA.

Terry Bialkowski from Canada captured his second National Senior Bowling Association title this year by defeating Gary Zarick from Macomb Twp., 228-209. The tournament was held on November 8, 2008 at Oak Lanes in Westland.  Terry qualified 13th and proceeded to beat Kevin Scott of Ferndale, 213-194, Jim Richardson from Toledo, Ohio, 244-228, Dave Eatmon from Ferndale, 205-202, and Jim Reed of Canton to advance to the title match. Bialkowski took home the first place check of $1,000, the championship trophy and a championship towel.
