 Dave Tulak from Taylor came away with an early holiday present as he won the December NSBA Holiday Classic held at Astro Lanes in Madison Heights. Tulak qualifying in the 2nd position, started strong as he beat Carl Wilson of Temperance, 289-209 and then proceeded with wins over Rick Parcshen from Strongsville, Ohio, 214-205,
Gerald Johnson of Riverview, 245-213, John Thomasma from Kalamazoo, 256-194 and in the final match, which came down to the 10th frame, edged Ken Kossick from commerce, 247-236. Dave came away with the $1,200 top prize and the special Holiday Classic trophy for his effort.
Kossick, qualifying 9th , tied Nick Beelaard from Canada with 206 and in the tie breaker, won 30-26 in his first match. He then won his next 3 matches against Steve Scherle from Canada, 257-182, Robert Michaux, Jr. of Detroit, 266-178 and Tony Stipcak from Redford, 236-211 before losing to Tulak. Ken received the runner-up check of $600 for his efforts.
