December 2012 Results

The Holiday Tournament held at Plaza Lanes on December 8, 2012 proved once again to be a hugh success. With added prize money and guaranteed 32 to make the finals proves that competing during the year has its rewards. Included was a luncheon for all participants and guests compliments of the National Senior Bowling Association and Bodary’s Brackets.

Congratulations goes out to Ed DeBlock from Canada qualifying 27th for winning this event sitting on the bench. He beat Gerald Johnson of Riverview 201-197 in the championship match. Johnson was coming off back to back 300’s (an NSBA record) when all he needed was a mark in the 10th frame for the win and proceeded to leave a wash-out which he failed to convert.

Tournament Director Bob Pniewski presents the trophy to this month's champion.

DeBlock started off by beating Dave Eatmon of Ferndale, 257-204, Phil Horowitz from West Bloomfield, 218-187, Jack Dalie of Springfield, Ohio, 256-200 and Larry Walker of Garden City, 213-146. Ed collected the Holiday Tournament Special Trophy and $1,200 for his effort.

Johnson qualified 4th and beat John Watkins of Canton, 236-183 and Terry Bialkowski from Canada, 215-163 before going on his record of back to back 300’s over Larry Franz of Redford (202) and Brian Senda from Manchester (207). Gerald collected the runner-up check of $600.
